September Soundtrack: Four Artists, Five Releases for Gospel Music Heritage Month
As Gospel Music Heritage Month closes on 30 September, we’re celebrating five September releases from four artists connected to Ireland—and the different ways their music is reaching listeners.
This month’s picks span worship, hymnody and pop and R&B: We Are Messengers’ new album, Rend Collective’s new EP and charting collaboration, a new recording from Keith and Kristyn Getty, and Robin T’s “Another Level.”
We Are Messengers — Halfway Home
Released on 25 September, Halfway Home is We Are Messengers’ fifth studio album. Its 13 tracks include the title song, “Faith Hope Love,” “Room For You” and “I Know We’ll Be Ok.”
The release comes as the band celebrates more than one billion global streams across its catalogue. That milestone represents the band’s career total, rather than a single song’s streams. The plaque presentation also recognised their No. 1 single “We Three Kings.”
We Are Messengers’ international connection is also built through live shows. In January, the Irish-fronted band returned to Australia, performing in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.
Rend Collective — The Evergreen Season and “Something More”
Rend Collective released its seven-track EP The Evergreen Season on 11 September. The collection brings together recent releases, including “Evergreen,” “Do It All Alone” and “Salt and Light,” alongside “Something More,” their collaboration with Cammy Barnes.
“Something More” has been finding its audience on the Official UK Christian & Gospel Singles Chart. In the week of 25 September to 1 October, it rose to No. 3, a new peak in its third week. Earlier this year, “Salt and Light” peaked at No. 2 and spent 13 weeks on the chart.
The EP and chart performance arrive during a busy year of live music for the Northern Irish group, with European and UK dates and an announced Australian run later in 2026.
Keith and Kristyn Getty — “Give Me Jesus”
On 4 September, Northern Irish hymnwriters Keith and Kristyn Getty released “Give Me Jesus,” featuring Sonya Isaacs Yeary. The recording offers a new arrangement of the traditional spiritual.
The Gettys’ music has long travelled through churches around the world. Their hymn “In Christ Alone,” co-written with Stuart Townend, remains widely used in congregations, while Getty Music continues to create songs and resources for communal singing.
Robin T — “Another Level”
Our Artist Discovery for September landed us on Robin T’s September release “Another Level” brings a pop and R&B sound to this roundup. Born in South Africa and based in Dublin, he is signed to Derry-based DaCosta Records. His musical journey has also taken him to Nashville, where he busked and performed at venues including the Bluebird Cafe and on Broadway.
His story adds another perspective to the month’s music: an artist linked to a Derry label, developing his sound and connecting with opportunities beyond Ireland.
A month worth celebrating
These five releases are our picks from a month of music connected to Ireland. From We Are Messengers’ new album and milestone moment to Rend Collective’s EP and charting single, the Gettys’ hymn recording and Robin T’s latest track, September has offered plenty to listen to and celebrate.
As Gospel Music Heritage Month comes to a close, we’re giving these artists, their collaborators and their music their flowers.
